I'm taking a break from publishing multiple words this week.
So here, instead, is a visual meander through what's caught my attention recently.
These photos also happen to be saved in a folder on my phone. I create a folder at the beginning of each year, ingeniously titled with that year.
This year's, for example, is 2023 Highlights.
They're the moments I want to come back to - a heuristic to help place me in the moment, and rekindle the sights and other senses of that moment.
Let’s explore!
Leo is travelling around the world and his enthusiasm and curiosity is a breath of fresh air. Here’s where Leo shares his enthusiasm.
My dad, Ron, 83, living with Parkinson’s and finishing up a gym session. 30 minutes on the bike. 20 minutes doing weights with me. Current achievement: cable pulls @ 13.6 kg / 30lb (I’m a hard task master!)
Then, a stay at Brighton for a weekend of opera at Glyndebourne. An exquisite Les Dialogues des Carmelites by Poulenc, and an interesting take on Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
There’s a video snippet of Les Dialogues here.
First night at the Proms with a beautifully creative Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons interspersed with improvised folk songs that feature a cittern (like a cross between a sitar and a lute).Â
If you have access to BBC iPlayer, this is well worth a watch.Â
Rose buds and tomatoes from the terrace in London.
My work desk for this week.
A seaside run at 7 am at 23 C / 73 F before the temperature rises to 35 C - 95 F. Plus a post-weights dip in the Mediterranean. Not quite a cold water exposure - but close!
Over to you!
What are your visual highlights this year?
If you have a favourite moment, I'd love to hear from you.Â
Share a picture and what that moment means for you.
That’s it for this week!

Great stuff! Your dad looks like a G! Good for him to stay active as he ages. It's so important to keep your quality of life up.
