This is my new definition of perfectionism for ever more!

Perfectionism = "hand deep in another bag of chips."

This is nothing other than inspired storytelling!

I came up with this image with you in mind. Totally inspired from your super "Honestly Human" storytelling workshops

To make them more healthy, and avoid those inflammatory seed oils, a hand in a bag full of chips fried in olive oil, would be better.

I just realised I've turned myself American in using "chips" rather than "crisps"!

Specific imagery of real life examples can't be beat when it comes to effective communication. You're nailing it Eric.

Man does this ring true. The filling "fill my cup with joy, the less room there is for perfection to monopolise" is a good framing.

The more I can focus on doing what I feel most aligned with and enjoy, the better I feel AND the better I perform. This is was a nice reminder to reflect on that.

What small step can you take today to bring more joy into your work? --> I think just knowing what joy is for me/you is an excellent first step -- defining it so I might assign it

How can you balance striving for excellence with enjoying the journey? --> Know you will never be as good as you wish you were, and that you might also be better than you think you are, all while being the best you can be in that moment. The journey is the practice that makes the journey a journey.

Can you identify one perfectionist habit you’re willing to let go of to make space for joy? --> I love repetition, but know I could do more without it being a calling

...thanks for the read...

Ooh the remote button method sounds like a great idea! I love how this piece is centered around permission. It can be so easy to forget that we can allow ourselves to feel joy even in the tough moments - and I know this quite well. Your essay is a great reminder, Eric.

Loved this issue, Eric. The little story you start with, as well as the idea of the permission button on the remote. Inspiring!
